Surviving the Attention Economy [VIDEO]

We started as an agrarian economy, then to an industrial manufacturing economy, then in the 1970s the conversation began around the "post-industrial society" (Daniel Bell) and the rise of the "knowledge workers" and the Information Age. Today, we talk about the "attention economy", where there is a surplus of content but attention is at a premium. For example, it would take one individual over a billion years to consume the amount of video content that traverses the internet in a single day.

So what does content consume? It consumes attention. So the challenge for anybody with a product or service is not only getting their message out there and seen, but seen by the right people.
